First off to actually "clone" your HDD to an SSD, you have to shrink the largest partition on the HDD so that the total of ALL the partitions can easily fit onto the SSD.

Second, you can use this information to do the cloning:

1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR) from here: https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree
2) Connect the new drive to the PC using a USB-to-SSD drive adapter
3) Follow the instructions in this link: http://knowledgebase.macrium.com/display/KNOW/Cloning+a+disk
4) Shutdown the PC when done
5) Swap the drives and reboot the PC.

You may perform disk clone with AOMEI Backupper. To boot from the cloned SSD successfully, you can swap out the original hard drive and install the SSD there. Make sure the SSD is with relatively the same dimensions as the original drive.

@Lily_Gr

While the software you mentioned will do the job, you failed to mention HOW the person was going to do the cloning without connecting the SSD to their laptop along with the HHD.

Also, it's not the DImensions that are the issue, it's the CAPACITY.

Hello, I tried the 2 products mentioned above I cloned the hard drive on my ssd on a USB port and I want to restart on the ssd connected to the USB port I do not want to change my hard drive it stays in place, the bios is configured to be able to boot on the USB port first but I have the non-bootable disk error I do not understand why since I cloned my hard drive and I have all the partitions I look forward to a solution the USB box is a PORT CONNECT cordially

I'm not familiar with a Port Connect -- but if this is some kind of USB hub, you can NOT boot from anything plugged into that.

You must have the USB media plugged directly into the PC.

You may change boot order in BIOS to boot from removable devices:

1. Enter BIOS.

2. Press the right arrow key on your keyboard until the Boot tab is opened. Move “Removable Devices” to the top of the boot order list by pressing “+” or “-”.

3. Press F10 to save changes and restart your computer.

I boot well on the ssd on the USB port since I have the message device not bootable A +

I do not believe that "PORT CONNECT" is a concentrator it is used to support 1 SATA type disk
