compaq 420 needs BIos administrator password

Please help. i'm trying to setup the BIOS as i need to change the setting but i can't as it is asking for a BIOS Administrator password. Unfortunately i'm not the initial owner of this laptop computer. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

When asked for the password just hit enter 3 times.

there are no error codes. it will just as me for the password for like 2 times and then a keyboard will come up in the screen and will seem to ask me to type a password again and if i try it says something like Authentication failed.

For that model you will need to contact HP in your region and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.

Just to note:

Do not try removing the RTC/BIOS battery.  It will not remove the password, but it will reset the clock - as SMC files are time coded, a large disparity between the system clock and the time encoded in the SMC will cause it to fail.
