Airplane mode simply means the WiFi has been disabled. This is usually done using a Function Key (which has an LED that glows red when the WiFi is disabled, and white when it is working), or with a sliding switch somewhere on the side of the laptop.
A system reset is a SOFTWARE function and will do nothing to fix this.
