These blue screens are occurring more and more frequently since I first purchased the equipment, but with use they are now more frequent. The retailer where I bought the equipment says it is fine and that there is nothing wrong with it, but it continues to give the same blue screens.

Hi @Cantarelli,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your HP 14 Laptop PC. Blue screens (also known as Blue Screen of Death or BSOD) can indicate various problems, including hardware issues, driver conflicts, or software problems. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue.

Check for Error Codes: When the blue screen occurs, note any error codes or messages displayed. This information can help pinpoint the problem.

Update Drivers: Ensure all your drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date. You can do this through:

  • HP Support Assistant: This tool can help you find and install the latest drivers.
  • Device Manager: Right-click on the Start button, select Device Manager, and check for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark.

Run Windows Update: Make sure your operating system is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • RAM Check: Use the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool. Search for "Windows Memory Diagnostic" in the Start menu and follow the instructions.
  • Hard Drive Check: Run a disk check. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type chkdsk /f and press Enter. You may need to restart your laptop.

Review Installed Software: Uninstall any recently installed software that may be causing conflicts. Consider if any software coincided with the start of the blue screens.

Restore to a Previous State: If the problem started recently, consider using System Restore to roll back to a point when the laptop was functioning correctly. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > System Protection > System Restore.

Perform a Clean Boot: This can help you identify if background services or startup programs are causing the issue. Search for "msconfig" in the Start menu, go to the Services tab, check "Hide all Microsoft services," and then click "Disable all." Restart your laptop and see if the problem persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
