Hi @Kene3,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Diagnosing issues with your HP laptop can involve several steps, depending on what symptoms or problems you are experiencing. Here are some general steps you can take to diagnose and troubleshoot common issues.

Use HP Support Assistant:

  • HP Support Assistant is a tool that can help diagnose and fix issues on HP laptops. It usually comes pre-installed on HP devices.
  • Open HP Support Assistant from the start menu and run the diagnostic tests available to check for hardware issues and update drivers.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • For software-related issues, you can use the built-in Windows Troubleshooter.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot and select the area where you are facing problems, such as internet connections, Bluetooth, sound, or hardware.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure that your Windows operating system is up to date, as updates can fix existing bugs and improve performance.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Perform Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP provides hardware diagnostic tools that you can use to check for issues with components like the hard drive, memory, battery, etc.
  • To run HP hardware diagnostics, restart your laptop and repeatedly press the Esc key until the Startup Menu appears, then select F2 for System Diagnostics.

Check Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting it from the list.
  • Check for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark, which indicates a driver issue.
  • Update or reinstall the drivers for those devices.

Look at Event Viewer:

  • You can view system logs to identify any errors or warnings related to your laptop’s hardware or software.
  • Type "Event Viewer" into the Windows search bar and navigate through the logs to see if there are any clues.

Check System Performance:

  • If your laptop is running slow, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to check CPU, memory, and disk usage. High usage in these areas can indicate a problem with specific applications.

Scan for Malware:

  • Perform a full scan of your system using Windows Defender or any credible third-party antivirus software to rule out malware infections.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
