This is the error message: Windows cannot be installed to this disk. the selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI system, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks.
I need to disable the EFI Boot Sources. HP directions did not help. I can't find the option.

Hi,
If the existing HDD has a mbr partition style ( and assuming you don't have a specific need for mbr ), you can convert this to a guid partition table (gpt) as follows.
Open a Command Prompt- Option 1
Enter the following, hitting return after each entry.
diskpart
list disk
Assuming there is only 1 hard drive installed then enter
select disk 0
clean
convert gpt
when done type exit and hit enter.
Run the Windows 10 installation again.

Thank you. Now, I have another problem. I booted from a usb drive made on the same laptop that was suppose to be Windows 10 Pro but it installed as Home edition. I tested the usb on another laptop and it installed as Pro. I reinstalled again on my laptop and it still installed as Home. Any thoughts? 🙂

Hi,
You're welcome
Regarding the other issue, I think what's happening is that the installation is reading the product key from the uefi firmware - you can get around this as follows.
Use notepad to make a file called PID.txt and put the following in the file:
[PID]
Value=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Place your windows 10 Pro key in where the X's are and save the file to the /sources directory in the root of your USB key.
The key in the PID file will be read during installation, rather than the OEM key embedded in the firmware of your notebook.
