With a used laptop, there is practically no way to tell what the previous user blocked and/or trashed -- so it is surprising that the thing even works, let alone has minor problems.
If it were mine, I would seriously consider two things: new user account, OS refresh.
As to the first, if you have not done so already, you need to create a new user account for yourself.
As to the second, you will need to download and create Win10 install media and use that to refresh your OS install.
Do that as follows:
1) Use this link to download and create Win10 install media: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
2) insert that into your PC (do NOT boot from it), find the folder containing the media, select the setup.exe file, right-click that and select Run as Administrator. This will start an in-place Upgrade which could then take a couple of hours to complete.

Hi and thank you for your answer but I have found a way to get what I needed by using chrome to download m/b antivirus. It seems that explorer was blocking site somehow, I had no probs downloading avg via explorer so could not get my head around it..Thks again..
