have an elite mini 800 g9 desktop. says that windows 22h2 is available. i try to INSTALL. it downloads, then installs, gets to 100%, indicates that it FAILED, and to retry.
i've retried,and it still fails.
any way to fix this so it installs?
OR, if i wait for the NEXT windows update (indicates it is available soon?), wil thiat fix this, is it a CUMULATIVE update?

W11 23H2 came out in October.
Perhaps you can try updating right to the latest version by clicking on the blue W11 Installation assistant button (1st option) at the link below to upgrade right to W11 23H2.
Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)

thanks for reply.
is there a way within the windows system/update button, to force the update, without going directly to the microsoft link?
i can try the link, but am curious if the update function can do this and bypass the older one
thanks

You're very welcome, Nick.
No way that I know of to do that from Windows Update.
This article indicates that you have to be running on W11 22H2
So, you may not even be able to use the Microsoft W11 Installation Assistant to do an in-place update to 22H3.
You'd have to try it.
Worst case scenario is you use the second option on the Microsoft W11 Installation link to create a bootable W11 USB flash drive and clean install W11, if you don't have a lot of files and programs you would have to reinstall.

see attached. shows the failure notice. BUT, i followed the advice above, and DID the windows update, and the SYSTEM states that it is now at 23H2 (system -> about).
SO, the question is, will this notification eventually disappear, so that it does not try to go RETRO backwards?
but it looks like the forced update with the microsoft update link did the job !
I thank you for your assistance in this

Hi, Nick:
Here's what I would do if I were you and I have done this a few times when MS updates failed--especially on cumulative updates, because February's update will have the January files as well, so you're not really going to miss anything if the Feb update works...
Run the Microsoft Hide Windows update utility that I zipped up and attached below.
It will find the update that is trying to install.
Check the box to hide the update.
The utility will run again and report that the problem is 'Fixed.'
Restart the PC, go to the Windows update setting and run the update again.
You may have to click on the 'Retry' button a few times, but eventually the update will be cleared out.

thanks for reply.
right now, i'm going to just ignore that update, and see if it disapears on its own, since 23h2 got installed.
i did download the zip file, and instructions, and will thry that if the issue continues.
again, thanks very much !!
