I want to re install windows 10 on my ssd but it is showing me that please ensure that disk's controller is enabled in your bios.

While I'm looking for it in my bios there is no such option available. and i don't have any Advanced option in my bios and no legacy option. How can I fix this issue?

Hi @Rakib75,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Laptop 15 is set to a BIOS that doesn't expose options for enabling the disk controller directly or configuring advanced storage settings. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Reset BIOS Settings

  • Sometimes, restoring BIOS to default settings can automatically enable necessary configurations.
  • Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F10 on HP laptops during startup).
  • Look for an option like "Load Setup Defaults" or "Restore Defaults" in the Exit or Save & Exit menu, and confirm it.
  • Save and exit BIOS, then check if the Windows installation detects the SSD.

Update BIOS Firmware

  • Your BIOS might lack advanced options if it's outdated. Check HP's support website for your specific model's BIOS update.
  • Download the latest BIOS update (if available) and follow HP’s instructions to update it.
  • Once updated, check if the SSD is detected.

Try UEFI Boot Mode

  • In some cases, the installer might fail if the laptop is set to UEFI-only mode but doesn't fully support it for certain SSDs.
  • Restart your laptop, enter BIOS, and check for any mention of "UEFI Mode," "Secure Boot," or "CSM" (Compatibility Support Module).
  • If you see these, try toggling Secure Boot or enabling CSM, which allows for compatibility with legacy settings.

Load SATA Drivers During Installation

  • If the SSD is still not detected, try loading storage controller drivers manually during Windows installation:
    • When you reach the drive selection screen in Windows Setup, click on “Load Driver.”
    • Insert a USB with HP-specific SATA or NVMe drivers (available on HP’s support site for your model), select the driver, and continue the installation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
