My HP CLOUD RECOVERING SOFTWARE GIVE ME AN ERROR :0XC00404

Error 0xC00404 typically occurs when the tool fails to download the recovery image; this might be due to file access restrictions (e.g., ISO stored in Deep Archive) or connection issues.

Recommended Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check USB Compatibility
    Use a clean, simple USB drive:
    • Size: 32 GB
    • Format: FAT32 (or NTFS, but HP prefers FAT32)
    • Important: Avoid drives >128 GB or with multiple partitions.
       
  2. Run as Administrator
    Right-click the HP Cloud Recovery Tool and select Run as administrator to ensure full permission to download and write files.
     
  3. Disable Antivirus/Firewall Temporarily
    Security software might block the download. Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall and try again.
     
  4. Ensure a Stable Internet Connection
    Prefer a reliable Ethernet connection. Avoid unstable Wi-Fi during the download process.
     
  5. Clear Tool Cache
    • Press Win + R, type %temp%, and press Enter.
    • Delete all temporary files.
    • Re-launch the HP Cloud Recovery Tool.
       
  6. Use the Latest Tool Version
    Download the most recent HP Cloud Recovery Tool directly from HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support to avoid outdated versions.
