@Sipho2, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error screen confirms that the HP Notebook is encountering:

Recovery: Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. Error code: 0xc0000225\ A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed.

This typically means Windows can't find the system files used for booting, often due to:

  • Corrupted or missing Boot Configuration Data (BCD)
  • Damaged system files
  • Failed Windows update or disk errors

Steps to Resolve Error Code 0xc0000225 on HP Notebook

Option 1: Automatic Repair via Windows Recovery Media

Create a Windows 10/11 Installation Media:

  • Use another PC to download the Windows Media Creation Tool or Windows 11 Tool.
  • Create a bootable USB drive (at least 8GB).

Boot from USB:

  • Insert the USB into the affected HP Notebook.
  • Power on and press Esc repeatedly, then F9 to select boot device.
  • Choose the USB drive.

Run Startup Repair:

  • Select your language > Click Repair your computer (bottom left).
  • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
  • Let Windows attempt to fix boot issues.

Option 2: Rebuild BCD Manually

If Startup Repair fails:

  1. Boot from USB as above.
  2. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
  3. Run these commands one by one:
    bootrec /scanos
    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec /rebuildbcd
  4. Restart the PC.

Option 3: Check Disk for Errors

Still stuck? Try checking the disk:

chkdsk C: /f /r

Replace C: with the correct drive letter if needed.
