Hi @jimmy1229,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error code 71.024A on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series typically indicates a problem related to the printhead or ink system. Since you’ve already installed new ink cartridges and the issue persists, here are some additional steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix the error.
- Turn Off and On: Power off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on. This can sometimes reset the error.
- Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. Remove the cartridges and reinstall them, making sure they click into place securely. Check for any protective tape or packaging material that may still be on the cartridges.
- Clean the Contacts: Turn off the printer and unplug it. Remove the ink cartridges and clean the copper-colored contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer with a soft, lint-free cloth. Be careful not to touch the nozzles or get them wet.
- Inspect the Printhead: If your printer model has a removable printhead, remove it and check for any visible issues. Clean it gently with a lint-free cloth or a soft brush if it appears dirty. Reinstall it carefully.
- Update Firmware: Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or HP’s website.
- Perform a Printer Reset: Some printers have a factory reset option available through the settings menu. Consult your printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
- Check for Paper Jams: Sometimes, paper jams or other obstructions can cause errors. Check all paper paths and remove any jammed paper.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
