Since you have an Acer Aspire laptop you will need Acer support to fix that error:

I was wrong as usual. The Acer Aspire R5 is the laptop i'm using to try to debug the HP laptop, i.e. research fixes on the web, Etc.  A "senior moment" if ever there was one. I'm 74 and trying to help my teacher daughter w. her HP

that she needs badly. She needs the lesson plan files, artwork, craft materials, etc. that  she uses for the pre-elementary class. Of course she has no backup. if I could just login maybe I could get someplace but I can't.  Sorry for my stupid oversight.

No hardware replacements or additions. Vanilla machine used by teacher. Not sure if 32  bit or 64. Machine purchased in 2015 w Intel I3.  I can get model no. and serial no. off case if needed.

The error message indicates info is missing in BIOS. It will require service at HP to correct it. I will try to have Moderator escalate for review to see if we can get you some help. They will contact you via PM here on the forum so don't publish Serial number publicly.

ok Cheryl but does this BIOS issue affect the login problem? or is that another unrelated issue? If I could login I might be able to run some virus scanners, etc.

I'm not 100% sure on that -unless the problems happened simultaneously.

I asked for someone to look into your problem but I'm afraid they may have seen system listed as Aspire and didn't read any further. Could you please edit your first post above and change the machine to HP? Click on the 3 dots in right top corner of that post and you will see "Edit".
