Dear HP Community

When updating windows I get the following error message

“Installationen den ‎25-‎11-‎2019-0x8007001f blev ikke fuldført”

translation: The installation was not completed”. Error code: 0x8007001f

This has happened several times, with the same negative result.

What should I do to remedy this?

Best regards Peter

Hi
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter.

NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

HOW DO I USE DIAGNOSTICS?

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows is a Windows-based utility that allows you to run diagnostic tests to determine if the computer hardware is functioning properly. The tool runs within the Windows operating system in order to diagnose hardware failures. HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows comes pre-installed on new HP computers, but if not on yours, download here:-

Dear Lil_Boy_Blue

A hard reset? Does’nt that wipe away everything from the PC?

Best regards Peter

HP Recommended

Nope.

I do one infrequently.

Just clears the reboot parameters I think.

Either way do the hardware test.

All tests done and passed - no problems

Excellent.

"When updating windows "

You can look at an install and/or  https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=WINDOWS+10

Manual intervention seems to be the obvious choice, and I feel that is something I best keep out of.

@PeterIvan

A reset does remove apps and settings and keeps, at best, only personal data.  See this HP thread for details:  https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c04742289

Plus, if there are any defects on the hard drive, which is a common cause of PC issues, the reset will almost certainly leave you with a nonworking PC.

Which is why you never see my posts recommending doing a reset.
