error x800f0831 when updating windows

I assume this is a windows update and not an HP update.

 

Device drivers should be installed only if the HP support assistant recommend it. There can be problems updating device drivers using the "optional updates" feature of windows.

 

What update caused the problem?  if it was an update to windows 11 from 10?  if so, there is a better way to update rather than going through the microsoft one.

 

You might want to run diagnostics before a major update

Tap the ESC key after powering on to run diagnostics. Do not allow any updates if disk or memory fail.
