hello, I'm trying to find out if there is a patch for bios version f.29 or a way to bypass the signature protection that is preventing rolling back to f.28. the bios update is causing a error-502 CMOS checksum error and random freezing going from idle to normal operation. I've tried every way I can think of it doesn't boot using a flash drive (win+b) and wont allow me to flash back to f.28 using the hp utility in windows.

@Rollfastsmooth, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
During the startup process, the system performs a checksum test of the BIOS. If the checksum is incorrect, the BIOS is assumed to be corrupt and the system installs a hidden copy of the BIOS to correct the problem, and the startup process continues. The following message displays for 15 seconds before the computer automatically reboots. You have the option of pressing enter to proceed without waiting 15 seconds.
To resolve the CMOS Reset Error (502), follow this guide: HP PCs - 500, 501, or 502 error displays on a black screen | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi, I've used the recovery procedure with the f.29 file on the hp website utilizing the serial for my notebook to find the correct file. The recovery process works fine it reinstalls the bios from my flash drive and I get a message on the next boot that says a bios recovery was detected. However when I hard reset (hold the power button down until the laptop shuts down) I get the same error 502 message and all my bios settings reset. Reading other forums I've come across the same symptoms (freezing and cmos checksum error) and quoting this bios revision. But no way to roll back or get a patch. It's pretty frustrating because while it's nice and all to be worried about security it's causing issues with my laptop that I've only had for a couple years and spent not an insignificant amount of money on.
