Hi
My HP Pavilion 14 laptop could not boot, with error message: Boot devic not found. Please install an operating system on your hard disk. Hard disk (3F0).
To solve this problem, I was trying to build cloud recovery drive on another laptop. However, when the process is nearly completed, I got an error message saying: the recovery creation attempt has failed. Please contact HP support. The error code: 0xC00405
May I ask your advice on this?
Thanks.

Hi:
I am going to try and create the bootable recovery image for your notebook and see if I get the same problem.
I will be using a PNY USB 3.0 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.
As you know, this process takes a while to complete so I will reply again after whatever happens, happens.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I did some further investigation and it seems that my hard drive has failed:
1. dignostic test shows that short DST not available
2. there is no hard drive shown when I used disk part
I think I will have to change the hard drive and see what happens.

You're very welcome.
Yes, I would agree with you that you need to install a new drive.
The product specs indicate that your notebook came with one of those Intel NVMe SSD's probably with the built in Optane memory.

Check your notebook's BIOS and if there is a setting to enable/disable the Intel Optane memory, disable it and just buy a regular NVMe SSD such as the Samsung 980 which will cost much less and work just about as good if not as good.
The 500 GB model is 33.49 pounds if you want to install one that was close to the capacity you have now.
HP only has the service manual for the older model series but it should be of help to you with opening up the notebook to replace the M.2 NVMe SSD.
