I got this laptop from my aunt when she passed and used it for over a year. when I went to use it i got a windows failed to start error. It wants me to install the installation disk but I don't have it. When we cleared the estate I didn't even think about looking for software.
I did a system check and a failure ID: 67p579-apvcnv-xd7v5g-60bc03. Any suggestions?

Provide the failure ID code and other info at the link below for explanation of the issue.
HP Customer Support - Service Center
If it recommends a replacement of the hard drive, you need to install a new storage drive and install Windows on it.
You can install Windows from HP Cloud Recovery tool or Microsoft Windows download site depending on your model.
Please provide the exact model number or product number (ProdID) of your notebook. You can find the info on the back cover of the notebook.

A failed (corrupted) hard drive can trigger an error like one you just posted, and you cannot reinstall Windows on a malfunctioning hard drive.
Run the diagnostic tool I linked, and if it recommends that the hard drive be replaced, you need to buy a new drive.
You can download software from the internet to create a bootable Windows installation USB drive.
That's as far as I can go without knowing the model number or product number (ProdID) of your notebook.

Your notebook's model number is 15-dw3033dx.
Below is the link to parts list for your model. Your notebook has a 256 GB M.2 NVMe SSD drive.
Your drive is like this. Hopefully, you ordered a right type of a storage drive.
You can use HP Cloud Recovery Tool which creates a bootable Windows recovery usb drive.
You need a 32 GB usb drive. Click the link below for how to use the recovery tool.

You need to download and run the recovery tool software on another Windows-based PC to create a recovery usb drive. When prompted to enter the product number, type 405F6UA#ABA.
This video may be of help for M.2 drive replacement work.

Thank you so much for your help. I matched the hard drive model number and bought a replacement. I appreciate the information.
When I use the 32 gb thumb drive and create a bootable thumb drive and enter my product number will that have the drivers and such for my laptop? Is it possible then to use my old hard drive and “maybe” get my old data off? If not I’m fine with it. Again, thank you very much!

You are welcome.
A bootable recovery usb drive will install Windows, drivers and HP software, bringing your new storage drive to factory state.
I don't know if you can retrieve any data from the failed drive. But you can try via a USB to M.2 NVMe enclosure.
You need to buy something like this.
Place the old M.2 drive in the enclosure, connect it to a working PC and run File Explorer to see if you can see any data on the drive to save.

I've gotten the 32 gb USB and downloaded the recovery file to my wifes asus. I right click on the file, select run as administrator and the file looks for updates, then says open. I click on open and it says the I need to run as administrator. There has to be something easy that i'm missing (I hope) 🙂
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you!

I saw posts where folks reported the same problem, but they weren't able to resolved the issue.
What you can do is to clean install W11 from Microsoft download site.
Choose the second option (Media Creation Tool) and create a bootable W11 installation usb drive.
Since your model has an Intel i3 11th gen processor, you need to supply Intel RST storage drivers to the Windows installer, otherwise the installation setup can't detect the SSD drive to install Windows on. Follow the steps below to complete the W11 installation
1. Download Intel RST driver from the link below. Run it as administrator and follow the on-screen instructions to perform the driver extraction.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp146501-147000/sp146929.exe
2. Go to C:\SWSetup\sp146929. Double click the sp146929 folder and copy the F6 folder to the root directory of a Windows installation usb drive. The F6 folder contains IRST drivers which the installation setup needs to detect the storage drive.
3. Connect the usb drive to the notebook and boot the system from the usb drive. When asked where to install Windows, click on Load Driver -> Browse -> the usb drive in the window that opens -> the F6 folder -> OK.
4. Multiple .inf driver files may be displayed. Select one and click Next. If no driver files are displayed, uncheck the box on the bottom left corner of the screen to display drivers. Find and select an 'iaStorVD.inf ' file and click Next to load the driver.
5. The SSD drive may be displayed with "unallocated space." Click Next to proceed the installation.
