Hello HP Community, I am facing an issue with my HP Pavilion laptop fan. Recently, the fan has either been running very loudly or not working properly, which causes my laptop to overheat and slow down during use. I have tried basic troubleshooting such as cleaning the vents and restarting the system, but the problem still persists. I am not sure if this is a hardware fault with the fan itself or a software/BIOS-related issue. Could anyone please guide me on how to fix this problem or suggest steps to recover and get my fan working normally again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@vishwa93, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your HP Pavilion laptop’s cooling system, which can be caused by both hardware and software-related problems. Below are a set of troubleshooting steps you can follow to try and fix the issue:

Clean the Vents Again

Even if you've cleaned them, try using compressed air to blow out any dust from the fan and vents.

Update BIOS and Drivers

Go to the HP Support website.

Search for your laptop model.

Download and install the latest BIOS and drivers.

Run HP Diagnostics

Restart your laptop and press Esc when it starts.

Press F2 to run HP Diagnostics.

Check the fan test for errors.

Adjust Power Settings

Go to Control Panel > Power Options.

Make sure System cooling policy is set to Active.

Reset BIOS to Default

Restart your laptop and press Esc.

Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.

Select Restore Defaults, save, and exit.

Check for High CPU Usage

Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).

Close any programs using too much CPU or memory.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
