Dear BeemerBiker,
Thank you for your detailed response and troubleshooting suggestions.
To clarify, my system is the HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-3104ng PC (Product No. A4AM5EA). The issue I’m experiencing is not related to an app failing to close during shutdown, but rather to a fan spinning at high RPMs after the PC has fully shut down.
Windows appears to shut down correctly, and the system powers off as expected. However, immediately after shutdown, one of the internal fans (likely a chassis or CPU fan) begins spinning very loudly, as if receiving full voltage. This behavior continues until I manually disconnect the power supply or flip the PSU switch.
Additional Notes:
• The system works normally during Windows operation.
• No apps are hanging or preventing shutdown.
• I’ve already performed a power reset as suggested.
• I plan to reset the CMOS by removing the CR2032 battery.
• BIOS version is currently up to date, but I’m double-checking via HP Support Assistant.
It seems the motherboard may be supplying power to a fan header even in the S5 (shutdown) state, which could be a firmware or BIOS-level issue. I would appreciate any guidance on BIOS settings that could address this — such as ErP Ready, S5 fan control, or similar options — if available for this model.
Thank you again for your support.
Best regards,
Aard
