Hi @nur23,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your laptop fingerprint reader is not working. Let’s go through a series of steps to troubleshoot and fix this issue:

Check Windows Hello settings

Go to Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options → Fingerprint.

Make sure Windows Hello Fingerprint is set up and not showing any errors.

If the option says “Set up,” you’ll need to enroll your fingerprint again.

Clean the fingerprint sensor

Wipe the sensor gently with a soft, dry cloth.

Dirt, oil, or moisture can prevent recognition.

Restart your laptop

Sometimes a simple restart restores fingerprint functionality.

Update the fingerprint driver

Press Win + X → Device Manager → Biometric devices.

Right-click your fingerprint sensor → Update driver → Search automatically.

If that doesn’t help, download the latest driver from your laptop manufacturer’s support page.

Check for Windows updates

Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.

Some fingerprint issues are fixed with Windows updates.

Remove and re-enroll fingerprints

In Sign-in options, remove all existing fingerprints.

Re-enroll your fingerprint carefully, covering different angles.

Check for hardware issues

If the sensor still doesn’t respond, it could be a hardware failure.

Test with an external USB fingerprint reader if available.

Optional: Run Windows Hardware Troubleshooter

Press Win + I → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Additional troubleshooters → Hardware and Devices.

Follow the prompts to detect and fix sensor issues.a

I hope this helps.
