Hey there! @davetv69, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have forgotten the login password on your PC.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC?

Have you created a password reset disk for your PC?

HP cannot recover or reset your password if it is lost or forgotten. HP strongly recommends creating a password reset disk to enable you to reset your password in case it is forgotten. If you do not have a password reset disk and you forget your password, you may be directed to perform a full recovery to original factory conditions and will lose any data that was not backed up to an external location.

If there are no other accounts with Administrator rights, you do not have a password reset disk, try these other options:

  • You can perform an HP System Recovery to completely erase all files, including password information, and go back to the way the system was when it was first purchased. For more information, see HP Guided Solution - Performing an HP System Recovery.

  • Call local computer repair and service stores. Local stores may offer password recovery services for a fee but results cannot be guaranteed. This service is not available from HP and using password recovery services is done at your own risk.

  • If you are unable to locate a local service to recover your password, one alternative may be to obtain password recovery software. This software is not available from HP and using password recovery software is done at your own risk.

You have to go to your MS Account to change passwords and get special codes from MS to make sure you are actually you and not a hacker. You should have a really good reason to do this because so much depends on your MS acct.--even windows activation.
