Linux

I have decided to switch over to linux as a daily driver as there are more development features in linux as compared to Windows. I would still like to have Windows installed as most programs are made for Windows, and as a backup in case I screw up my linux build. I am able to install any linux build successfully, which means that grub's efi file places itself in the correct place. I go to restart my laptop to see if linux has installed but it boots directly to Windows. I have checked to see if the method I use works on my other devices, and sure enough it does. I have checked my bios and followed every single step to make sure i can even boot into grub.

os installing: ELementary OS 5.1 based on ubuntu or Deepin linux based on

os installed: Windows 10 1909

secure boot: off

sata operation: AHCI

bios mode: UEFI with CSM

@Zayed4502

I'm sorry, but we here are not equipped to provide detailed Linux support.

HP only warranties their PCs for usage with the OS that comes preinstalled. IF you replace that with Linux, or add a Linux OS, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that -- as HP provides Linux assistance only on Redhat and then only to commercial customers.

The primary "challenge" to using Linux on any HP PC is the availability of Linux drivers. Any hardware that does not work will then range from simple (if there are Linux drivers available) to impossible (if there are NO Linux drivers available) to fix.

Since HP does not provide Linux drivers, your best bet for Linux support is to contact the support forum for the Linux distro you are using.

Folks on Linux support forums have experience using a variety of machines with Linux and know a lot about driver and installation issues. You will be able to get sound and detailed help there.

Good Luck

As @WAWood  as stated, HP does not offer Linux support and the Linux community most likely would be able to help.

I searched for a guide on dual booting

https://www.fosslinux.com/31/how-to-install-elementary-os-on-your-windows-pc.htm

Assuming you got that part done, show a screenshot of what choices it does after that reboot, as stated in the guide.
