What should I do for this error? Also, when this laptop was working well, it had many errors. Numbers, letters, and symbols type automatically, and when I touch it, the laptop crashes.

Hi @Methul

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details. The “SMART Hard Disk Error” message indicates that the system has detected an imminent failure in Hard Disk 3. Let’s go through the recommended steps to address this:

Steps to Follow for Hard Disk Error:

Backup Important Data Immediately

  • Connect an external storage device (USB drive or external hard disk).
  • Copy all important files, documents, and media to ensure no data loss.

Run HP System Diagnostics – Hard Disk Test

  • Restart the notebook.
  • When the error screen appears, press F2 to open System Diagnostics.
  • Select Hard Disk Test and allow the test to complete.
  • Note the results carefully.

Check HP Support Resources

If the Hard Disk Test Fails

  • The hard disk may need replacement. HP recommends using an authorized service center for hardware inspection and replacement.
  • After replacement, reinstall the operating system using recovery media or HP Cloud Recovery.

Regarding the Previous Issues (Automatic Typing and Crashes):

Run HP App – Diagnose & Fix

  • Open the HP App.
  • Select Diagnose & Fix to check for hardware and software issues.

Check for BIOS and Driver Updates

Perform HP Hardware Diagnostics for Keyboard and Touchpad

  • Restart the notebook and press F2 to enter System Diagnostics.
  • Run Keyboard Test and Touchpad Test to verify proper functionality.

System File Check (HP Recommended)

  • Use the HP App’s built-in tools to scan and repair system files.
  • This ensures stability and prevents crashes when interacting with the device.

This structured approach will help safeguard your data and identify whether the hard disk requires replacement, while also addressing the typing and crash issues through HP’s official tools.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Regards,
