Dear BH!

Appreciate your post but the end result was I need a replacement HD! My real problem was that I have mislaid/lost my admin Bios password. It is impossible to resolved this issue except a new Motherboard which is a no go.   I very rarely need the Bios so I just have to accept the situation. As you know on modern HP Pavilion Laptops there is no CMos battery in view or jumper leads to reverse. If anybody knows the way fair enough. But HP cant or wont help. They did offer   to collect the LapTop and repair for in excess of £400 which is nearly 50% of the original value of the machine.

All the best and regards Tony S.
