thanks, but i'm a bit confused by this, is this actually adding a key, or is this just a tool to add a key once i have one?

Hi

The 3 'keys' I have are for "A N Other" to be able to directly access my main board and do what ever they wish.

They are Public Keys.  They are not OS keys but access to the board and boot manager granting keys.

My MS OS key is contained in my Windows Registry, and perhaps other places also.

Same question...

Depends on what you want the end result to be,
a working PC with MS OS,
OR
a working PC with a NON MS OS.

i mean i definitely want a working computer with an MS OS, but what does a public key mean?

HP Recommended

A public key is what I would generate and distribute, after it is verified to be mine, so that any software claiming to be mine is mine and can be installed.

Concentrate on Paul's part of the answer  (his are always better than mine)...

Contact MS and prove you bought a Licenced copy of their OS.

on account that its almost certainly a hp branded version of microsoft windows, and that since the microsoft key is missing, i'm sure they'd direct me to contacting hp. which since, this computer is out of warranty, they are going to tell me to call. which i'm also not terribly interested in doing. though paul did tell me to contact hp "executive team" so maybe i guess i gotta do that.
