i am looking for a replacement HDD for my wife's Pavilion. The label says "1TB 5400RPM" on the label. All I can find on line are 1TB 7200RPM. How critical is the RPM?
It also says 6.0 Gb/s. I am assuming that is cache. Again how critical?
Thanks in advance.

Hi:
You would want both of those specs,7200 RPM and 6.0 GB/S.
The 6 GB/S is the data transfer speed. The cache is the spec that may state 32, 64 or 128 MB.
I don't know how big of a drive you need but if you don't need the 1 TB of storage space you may want to opt for a better performing, normally more reliable solid state drive, which has no moving parts.
You can get a 240 GB size for less than $40 and a 480 GB one for less than $60.
I personally have the 240 GB SSD in 4 of my HP desktop and notebook PC's and it works great.
