Hi @sicf,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop's touchscreen is not responding, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve touchscreen issues.

Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your operating system is up to date.

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Re-enable the Touchscreen:

  • Open Device Manager (right-click on the Start menu).
  • Expand Human Interface Devices.
  • Find HID-compliant touch screen. Right-click it and select Disable device, then right-click again to select Enable device.

Calibrate the Touchscreen:

  • Open Control Panel.
  • Go to Tablet PC Settings and select Calibrate under the Display tab.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Restart your laptop and press the F2 key repeatedly during startup to access HP's diagnostics tool. Check for any touchscreen-related errors.

Check for Physical Issues: Ensure there’s no debris or damage to the screen. Clean the screen gently with a microfiber cloth.

Perform a System Restore: If the touchscreen was working recently, consider restoring your system to a previous point when it was functional.

Check for Driver Issues:

  • Go back to Device Manager and check for any yellow exclamation marks next to devices, especially under Human Interface Devices or Display Adapters.
  • Update the drivers if needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
