Hi @dylanladen,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop running Windows 10 is stuck on the "Undoing changes" screen, it could indicate that Windows Update encountered an issue while installing updates. Here are some steps you can try to fix this issue.
Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve the issue. Press and hold the power button until your laptop shuts down completely, then turn it back on.
Wait it Out: Sometimes, the "Undoing changes" process takes some time to complete, especially if your computer is dealing with a large update. Leave your laptop running for some time to see if it progresses.
Boot into Safe Mode: If the undoing changes process is stuck in a loop, you can try booting into Safe Mode:
- Restart your computer.
- As soon as it starts booting up, press and hold the F8 key until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- Select "Safe Mode" and press Enter.
Use System Restore: If Safe Mode doesn't work, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state:
- Restart your computer.
- As it boots up, press and hold the F8 key until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- Select "Repair your computer."
- Choose "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "System Restore."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system to a previous restore point.
Use Command Prompt: If System Restore fails, you can try using Command Prompt to fix the issue:
- Boot into the Advanced Boot Options menu as described above.
- Select "Command Prompt."
- In the Command Prompt window, type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This command will scan your system files and attempt to repair any issues.
- After the scan completes, type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter. This command will check and repair any disk errors.
- Once both commands have completed, restart your computer and check if the issue persists.
Perform a Startup Repair: If none of the above solutions work, you can try performing a Startup Repair:
- Boot into the Advanced Boot Options menu as described above.
- Select "Repair your computer."
- Choose "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Startup Repair."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to let Windows attempt to repair startup issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
