Since I have lost the windows password, I want to reset it with a recovery disk, but although USB is mentioned in Boot Sequence, three options are given none of which seem to relate to USB boot stick. Can I boot from a USB stick and if so, how to achieve it ?

@Sebastian43,

If you haven't tried the F9 method yet, try this:

Turn on the notebook and immediately tap the F9 key for boot options menu.

Select USB Flash Drive (or USB Hard Drive) and hit the Enter key to boot from the USB drive.

As already stated, I have already accessed the boot sequence, and the USB boot was NOT an option - that is why I made the post. For what it is worth, when I turn the laptop on, the following shows 'Protected by sure start'. After reading your post, tapping F9 immediately after switching the laptop on, did NOT open the boot sequence.

In TROUBLESHOOT, I got 'use a device' option that listed USB - and allowed my rescue disk to boot. THAT problem is now solved.
