@kmvow,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) might have been activated, preventing the normal keyboard from functioning. Try these steps to fix it:

Method 1: Disable On-Screen Keyboard via Settings

  1. Open Settings: Press Win + I.
  2. Go to Accessibility > Keyboard.
  3. Toggle Off the On-Screen Keyboard option.

Method 2: Turn Off OSK from Ease of Access

  1. Press Win + Ctrl + O to toggle the On-Screen Keyboard off.
  2. If that doesn't work:
    • Press Win + R, type osk, and press Enter.
    • If the OSK appears, click Options and uncheck Use On-Screen Keyboard.

Method 3: Check Tablet Mode Settings

  1. Open Settings (Win + I).
  2. Navigate to System > Tablet.
  3. Make sure it's set to Desktop mode, not Tablet mode.

Method 4: Restart the Laptop

  • Sometimes, a simple restart resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
