Hello
I have a problem with my hp external drive
sata type 1tb, with usb controller 4061 705XXX 001 / SS35 09041 33
Model no. hp md1000h
The problem seems to be in the controller, I can't get any PC to recognize the disk.
I have seen a link on this forum to get a new controller but that link is no longer operational. Everything I see online are used controllers that offer no warranty.
For this reason, I tried to recover the data from the HD by connecting it via SATA to the PC, but none of the programs I have used locate any partition structure.
Please does anyone know if it is possible to somehow rebuild the partition table, or how to recover the data?
Thank you

I’ve scoured many forums and haven’t found a single solution to the problem of faulty HP external hard drive controllers. Many of these sites mention that these controllers use encryption, meaning that neither the partition tables nor the data itself will be visible without being decrypted. The solution some people had used to recover their data was to buy an HP external hard drive with the same specifications, so I took a chance and bought a second-hand one. As soon as I plugged my drive into this new controller, it booted up and the entire directory structure and all my files appeared. The first thing I’ll do as soon as I’ve finished making a backup is buy an external SATA drive and forget about HP’s encryption system; it’s very risky to entrust your valuable information to this system.
