@Heather203,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Use a Different Power Outlet – Plug the charger into a different outlet to rule out a wall socket issue.
Inspect the Charging Cable & Adapter – Look for any damage, fraying, or loose connections on the charger.
Test with Another HP Charger (if available) – If you have access to another compatible HP charger, try using it.

 Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Unplug the charger and turn off the laptop.
  2. Remove the battery (if removable).
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds (this drains residual power).
  4. Reconnect the battery (if removed) and plug in the charger.
  5. Turn the laptop back on and check if it starts charging.

Reset the Battery Driver in Windows

  1. Unplug the charger and go to Device Manager:
    • Press Windows + X → Click Device Manager
  2. Expand Batteries, right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and Uninstall Device.
  3. Do the same for Microsoft AC Adapter.
  4. Restart your laptop (Windows will reinstall the drivers automatically).
  5. Plug in the charger and check if it charges.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
