Hi:
Run this report and see if the notebook can support 64 GB of memory.
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
If it reports 33,xxx,xxx, then you will need to return the 32 GB memory chip and get a 2 x 16 GB kit.
If it reports 67,xxx,xxx then it is possible that the 32 GB memory chip will work in the slot, and you can probably retain the other currently installed chip as well.

Welcome to our HP Community Forum!
According to: HP - Compaq HP 15z-eh000 | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com, your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15z-Eh000 CTO can be fitted with up to 32GB of RAM. If I were you, I would return the 32GB RAM stick and go for 2 x 16GB for best RAM (dual channel/rank) performance.
Kind Regards,
