Hi @Shreyansh4,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) is a pre-boot diagnostic tool that helps you test and troubleshoot your HP computer's hardware. If you're experiencing issues with it, here are common problems and solutions.

Diagnostics Tool Not Launching

Symptoms:

  • Tool doesn't open when pressing F2 during startup.
  • "Diagnostics not found" error.

Solution:

Reinstall HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI:

  • Download the UEFI tool for your model from the HP support website.
  • Create a USB drive with the diagnostics tool:
    • Plug in a USB drive (minimum 4 GB, FAT32 format).
    • Use HP’s installer to copy the diagnostics onto the drive.
  • Boot the PC and press F9 to select the USB drive as the boot device.

Enable UEFI in BIOS:

  • Enter the BIOS/UEFI setup by pressing F10 during startup.
  • Ensure UEFI boot mode is enabled under the Boot Options menu.

Tool Freezes or Crashes

Symptoms:

  • Tool hangs during testing.
  • Unexpected shutdowns.

Solution:

Update BIOS:

  • Go to the HP support website, find your model, and download the latest BIOS update.
  • Install the update and retry the diagnostic tool.

Run Tests Individually:

  • Instead of running all tests at once, select specific tests to identify which component causes the freeze.

Diagnostic Tool Finds No Issues but Problems Persist

Symptoms:

  • Hardware diagnostics pass, but you still experience issues like crashes, slow performance, or malfunctions.

Solution:

Run Advanced Diagnostics:

  • Use additional options like loop tests or component-specific tests (e.g., memory, hard drive, CPU, GPU).

Perform System Restore:

  • Boot into Windows Recovery and restore the system to an earlier point.

Check for Physical Damage:

  • Open the case and inspect components (RAM, SSD/HDD connections, etc.) for physical damage.

Missing or Corrupt Diagnostic Partition

Symptoms:

  • UEFI diagnostics are not found because the diagnostic partition is missing.

Solution:

Recreate the Diagnostic Partition:

  • Use the recovery media or reinstall the HP Diagnostics tool to restore the partition.

Boot from USB:

  • Install the diagnostics on a bootable USB drive.

Unable to Access Diagnostics on Newer HP Models

Symptoms:

  • Diagnostics unavailable on models with secure boot or updated firmware.

Solution:

Disable Secure Boot:

  • Enter the BIOS (press F10).
  • Navigate to "Secure Boot Configuration" and disable Secure Boot.

Install Latest Version:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the UEFI diagnostics tool.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
