Hi @MKED2,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Recovery not accepting your product name!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Verify the Product Name and Number: Double-check the product name and number printed on the label on the bottom of your laptop or within the battery compartment. Ensure there are no typos when entering the details.
Use HP Support Assistant: Run the HP Support Assistant application if it’s installed on your laptop to automatically detect and confirm your product name and number.
Access System Information: You can find your product information directly through Windows:
- Press the Windows key + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. This will open the System Information window.
- Check the system model and other identifiers that might be requested.
Update or Reinstall Recovery Software: Ensure that the HP Recovery Manager software is up-to-date. If necessary, you can reinstall it from the HP Support website.
Check for Recovery Partition Issues: If the recovery process is unable to proceed due to a partition issue, make sure the recovery partition is intact and was not deleted or modified during previous operations.
I hope this helps.
