Hi  @beaming4jesus

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand your concern that you're encountering the hp-shared-error-v2.dll error on your new HP laptop. this error happens when Windows tries to load a missing or deleted HP printer tool during startup and dont worry I'll do my best to help.

Could you kindly confirm the below details :

  • What is the exact HP laptop model? (Link for steps - click here )
  • When does the error appear?
    • During startup?
    • When opening a specific HP application?
    • After a recent update or software installation?
  • Could you share the full error message or a screenshot of the error?

In the meantime, kindly try these below steps and confirm :

  1. Restart the PC
    • Sometimes temporary software issues can trigger DLL-related errors.
  2. Run Windows Update
    • Go to Settings -Windows Update -Check for updates and install all available updates.
  3. Update HP Applications
    • Open Microsoft Store -Library -Get Updates and update all HP-related apps.
  4. Run HP Support Assistant
    • Open HP Support Assistant and install any recommended software, driver, or BIOS updates.
  5. Repair System Files
    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:
    • sfc /scannow
    • Once completed, restart the computer and check if the error persists.
  6. Reinstall the Affected HP Software
    • If the error references a specific HP application, uninstall and reinstall that application from HP's official website- https://support.hp.com/  or Microsoft Store.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
