Hi @DanSpectre,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect all peripheral devices attached to your laptop.
  • Turn off the laptop and disconnect the power adapter.
  • If the battery is removable, remove it. If not, skip this step.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual charge.
  • Reconnect the battery (if removed) and the power adapter, then try to power on the laptop.

Blinking Caps Lock Code

  • Count the number of blinks to identify the error. For example, some common blink codes include:
    • 1 Blink: Processor not executing code
    • 3 Blinks: Memory module error
    • 5 Blinks: System board error

Check for Power Issues

  • Ensure the power adapter is working by testing it with another compatible device.
  • Inspect the power port and adapter for any damage.

BIOS Recovery

  • Try to perform a BIOS recovery using a USB drive with a BIOS update file. This might help if the blinking pattern indicates a BIOS issue.

Component Reseating

  • This step typically involves reseating internal components, such as memory modules, but it’s recommended to have it performed by a professional if you're not familiar with hardware handling.

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

  • You can use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool if the system is able to boot to a diagnostic partition or if a USB with diagnostics can be used.

I hope this helps.
