Hi @SylviaKlein,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If hyperlinks in your email apps are not working on your HP 17 Laptop PC, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
- Check Default Browser Settings: Ensure that you have set a default web browser on your HP 17 Laptop PC. Sometimes, if there is no default browser set or if the default browser is not functioning correctly, it can affect the opening of hyperlinks.
- Browser Extension or Add-On Interference: If you're using a web-based email client (like Gmail) and the links open in a browser, try opening the links in an incognito or private browsing window. This will disable browser extensions and add-ons temporarily, helping you identify if they are causing the issue. If the links work in incognito mode, consider disabling or uninstalling browser extensions.
- Security Software: Your security software, such as antivirus or firewall, could be blocking the links. Temporarily disable your security software and check if the hyperlinks work. If they do, you may need to adjust the settings in your security software to allow email links.
- Default Mail App Settings: If you're using a desktop email client, check the settings in your email application. Ensure that the default web browser is set correctly in the email app preferences.
- Update Web Browser: If the issue is specific to a web browser, make sure that your browser is up-to-date. Outdated browsers can sometimes have compatibility issues with certain websites and functionalities.
- Reset Browser Settings: Resetting your browser settings to default can help resolve issues. Be aware that this may remove custom settings, extensions, and saved passwords. You can usually find this option in the browser's settings menu.
- Check Default Programs: Confirm that your email application is set as the default email program on your laptop. You can check and set default programs in the Control Panel or Settings (depending on your Windows version).
- Check for Software Conflicts: Sometimes, other software on your computer can interfere with the functioning of certain applications. Ensure that there are no conflicting software or services running in the background.
- Windows Updates: Make sure your operating system is up-to-date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, updating your system can resolve compatibility issues.
- Reinstall Email App: If the issue persists, consider reinstalling your email application. This can help in case there are corrupted files affecting the application's functionality.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
