Hi @nursehussein85

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble changing the fan mode from Smart Sense to Balanced or Performance through the My HP app, and no response is occurring when you try. Here are a few steps you can follow to try and resolve the issue:

1. Update HP Support Assistant (My HP)

If the My HP app isn't responding, it might need an update. Here's how to check for updates:

  • Open HP Support Assistant (formerly known as My HP).
  • In the HP Support Assistant window, check for any available updates for the app itself or the system drivers, including BIOS and fan control settings.
  • If there is an update available, install it and restart your laptop. After that, try changing the fan mode again.

2. Check BIOS Settings

The fan settings you're adjusting might be controlled at a BIOS level as well, especially if the HP software isn’t responding:

  • Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI by pressing Esc or F10 (depending on your model) during startup.
  • Once in the BIOS, navigate to the Thermal or Advanced section (this varies depending on your HP model).
  • Look for any fan-related settings, such as fan modes or thermal profiles, and ensure they're set correctly.
  • Save changes and exit BIOS, then check again if you can control the fan mode via HP Support Assistant.

3. Check for Conflicting Software

Sometimes, other software can conflict with the HP Support Assistant or cause fan control issues. If you have third-party software like overclocking utilities or system optimization tools, try temporarily disabling or uninstalling them to see if the issue resolves.

4. Reinstall HP Support Assistant

If nothing else works, reinstalling the HP Support Assistant (or My HP) app may help:

  • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program.
  • Find HP Support Assistant in the list, uninstall it, and restart your laptop.
  • After restarting, visit the HP Support website and download the latest version of the HP Support Assistant for your laptop model.
  • Reinstall the app and try adjusting the fan settings again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
