Hi there,

What's the model of your computer? Most BIOSes/UEFIs can be updated directly from the UEFI(BIOS). Debian linux is connected to the repositories that contain the latest hardware drivers. Most drivers are installed out of the box but the graphics cards and some newer hardware could be tricky to install or even impossible until a new kernel update. For a detailed information I suggest to post the output of the "hwinfo" command.

The G8 is pretty old. I would suggest linux Mint XFce as a distro for a laptop like that. Mint is probably the best distro for a HW support.

i dual booted ubuntu and debian 13 trixie i have no usb so it is very difficult to switch i cannot delete ubuntu and debian is my main os and only has 128 GB so unless i delete debian it will not be good for internet i have usb so i can usb tether that is the only way

Why can't you delete Ubuntu? I have used Debian myself but it was a pain to install it because it needed the inf driver file at the fresh installation for the wi-fi or ethernet to get online and download the installation files. Right so you have only one usb port for tethering internet, Am I right?? You could download the linux Mint image, create a bootable usb drive and try it. You don't need internet for that once the image is downloaded. If the wifi or ethernet works in the life system then good bye Debian.
