HP Stream Laptop 14-ax0XX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i want to wipe clean my laptop and start from 0.

first i tried recovery mode, it said i needed 8GB of free space on my C drive/disk (i don’t know what it’s called) to do it so i freed the space and then tried again the recovery mode. i waited like half an hour and then it said “there was a problem resetting your PC, no changes were made”.

i searched on internet and ended up downloading the windows creation tool and downloaded windows 10 on my 1TB external drive so i could boot my computer from there. at this point i didn’t know what i was doing but i just wanted a solution. so after i download it, i turn off my computer and i press Fsomething to go to BIOS settings , then i go to the boot section and select my 1TB external drive to boot my computer from it. now what happens next is that a message appears on my screen and it says “no bootable device — insert boot disk and press any key” and that’s where i’m at now. i feel stuck and hopeless i’ve been trying to fix my laptop for some time already and i just want to get done with it 😞 by the way i also turned off my computer , pressed F2 and did the quick tests and everything passed (no problems at all). i don’t know what to do please PLEASE help

Most likely, you're NOT going to be able to boot from the external drive.

If you downloaded an ISO file, you should use the free utility RUFUS to create a USB stick from that, and use that to boot your Stream laptop.

You could also see if the HP Cloud Recovery option is available ...

If your PC is a 2016 model or newer, you should see if you can make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool on a working PC.

The recovery drive can then be used to install Win10 and the HP drivers and utilities that originally came with your PC.
