Hi @DarkLadyBenz,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Based on your HP 14-dq0000 Laptop PC (Product ID: 9WQ76AV) running Windows 11 Home 24H2, here’s what you need to know regarding the product key:
Your HP laptop came preinstalled with Windows 10 Home in S Mode, and upon exiting S Mode, it automatically becomes Windows 10 Home, later eligible for upgrade to Windows 11 Home via Windows Update.
HP laptops have the Windows product key embedded in the UEFI firmware (BIOS). This means:
- You do not need to manually enter a product key when reinstalling the operating system.
- The correct version of Windows 11 Home will automatically activate once connected to the internet, as long as you install the same edition (i.e., Home, not Pro).
- If you install Windows 11 Home 24H2 using the Media Creation Tool or Windows installation media, the product key will be read automatically during setup.
- If activation fails, go to Settings > Activation > Troubleshoot or contact Microsoft Support directly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
