To use the SIM card you also need a WWAN card option installed. Not all laptop models have this option pre-installed. If you have it, you only need to insert an activated SIM card into the computer and connect.

There are two different WWAN cards available for 830 G5. Check with your telecom provider on what LTE bands are supported and pick the WWAN card that covers at least one of those bands. Use the 830 G5 Quickspecs document to see the WWAN card capabilities.

Then take a look at Elitebook 830 G5 Maintenance and Service Guide which has detailed installation instructions for installing the card. It also includes the WWAN card product numbers.

In the past HP has not always included the required antenna cables, so also check that the cables are there! Otherwise you also need to buy the Antenna Kit as mentioned in the guide, and you need to route the antennas around the display bezel.
