@Marko93, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Operating System on Your HP 17-cn31!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It seems like your new HP 17-cn31 laptop is missing an operating system. Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can install an operating system on your device:

1. Prepare Installation Media

  • Download the Windows 10/11 ISO file from the official Microsoft website. You can choose other operating systems as well, depending on your needs.
  • Create a Bootable USB Drive: You can use software like Rufus to create a bootable USB from the ISO file. Ensure your USB drive has at least 8GB of space and is empty.

2. Enter the BIOS Setup

  • Power Off the Laptop: Ensure the laptop is completely shut down.
  • Turn On the Laptop and Enter BIOS: Press the F10 key repeatedly as soon as the laptop starts to access the BIOS setup.
  • Set USB Boot Priority: In the BIOS menu, navigate to the boot settings and make sure the USB drive is set as the primary boot device.

3. Boot from USB and Install the OS

  • Insert the Bootable USB: Place your bootable USB drive into a USB port on the laptop.
  • Restart the Laptop: Your laptop should boot from the USB drive and start the Windows installation process.
  • Follow the On-Screen Instructions: Proceed with the installation. You'll need to select language preferences, enter the product key, and choose the partition where you want to install the operating system.
    • Tip: If prompted, format the hard drive/partition before installation.
  • Complete the Installation: Once installation finishes, you’ll be guided through setting up the basics such as your region, account, and other preferences.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
