Hi @Piotr72,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To install a new system on your HP laptop with the replaced disk, follow these steps.

Create a Bootable Installation Media

You’ll need a bootable USB drive with the operating system you want to install. Here's how to create one:

For Windows:

  1. Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft website.
  2. Run the tool and choose “Create installation media for another PC.”
  3. Select your language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit).
  4. Insert a USB drive (at least 8GB), select it, and follow the prompts to create the bootable media.

For Linux:

  1. Download the ISO file of the Linux distribution you want to install.
  2. Use a tool like Rufus or UNetbootin to create a bootable USB drive with the ISO file.

Boot from the USB Drive

  1. Insert the bootable USB drive into your laptop.
  2. Restart your laptop.
  3. As soon as the laptop starts, press the key to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings. This is usually Esc, F2, F10, or F12, depending on your model.
  4. In the BIOS/UEFI settings, navigate to the Boot Menu or Boot Order settings.
  5. Set the USB drive as the first boot device.
  6. Save the changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI settings. Your laptop should now boot from the USB drive.

Install the Operating System

For Windows:

  1. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the Windows installation.
  2. When prompted, choose the Custom Installation option.
  3. Select the new disk as the installation location.
  4. Continue with the installation process.

For Linux:

  1. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the Linux installation.
  2. Choose the installation type (e.g., Erase disk and install Linux or Manual partitioning).
  3. Select the new disk as the installation location.
  4. Continue with the installation process.

Complete the Setup

Once the installation is complete, follow the prompts to configure your new system, such as setting up user accounts and preferences.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
