Hi @Piotr72,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To install a new system on your HP laptop with the replaced disk, follow these steps.
Create a Bootable Installation Media
You’ll need a bootable USB drive with the operating system you want to install. Here's how to create one:
For Windows:
- Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft website.
- Run the tool and choose “Create installation media for another PC.”
- Select your language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit).
- Insert a USB drive (at least 8GB), select it, and follow the prompts to create the bootable media.
For Linux:
- Download the ISO file of the Linux distribution you want to install.
- Use a tool like Rufus or UNetbootin to create a bootable USB drive with the ISO file.
Boot from the USB Drive
- Insert the bootable USB drive into your laptop.
- Restart your laptop.
- As soon as the laptop starts, press the key to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings. This is usually Esc, F2, F10, or F12, depending on your model.
- In the BIOS/UEFI settings, navigate to the Boot Menu or Boot Order settings.
- Set the USB drive as the first boot device.
- Save the changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI settings. Your laptop should now boot from the USB drive.
Install the Operating System
For Windows:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to start the Windows installation.
- When prompted, choose the Custom Installation option.
- Select the new disk as the installation location.
- Continue with the installation process.
For Linux:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to start the Linux installation.
- Choose the installation type (e.g., Erase disk and install Linux or Manual partitioning).
- Select the new disk as the installation location.
- Continue with the installation process.
Complete the Setup
Once the installation is complete, follow the prompts to configure your new system, such as setting up user accounts and preferences.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
