installing ubuntu beside windows10 on HP laptop

I have an HP omen 17 laptop with windows 10 preinstalled. Trying to install Ubuntu 18.04 fails at the end when GRUB bootloader fails to install. I need a dual boot with Ubuntu. Contacting HP support does not help: they say only windows is supported on HP laptop. Does anyone have a solution?

W10 is SECURE BOOT, so is the Ubuntu going in as a SECURE BOOT OS?

If it is Legacy boot then that could be the reason.

I do not know whether Ubuntu 18.04 is secure boot (how to check), I disables secure boot in UEFI. Only at the end, when GRUB wants to install, it fails.

Well leave it as SECURE BOOT.  Disable Microsoft FastBoot

Move onto ubuntu 19:04?

Hey Lil_Boy_Blue, indeed, install besides windows is the option that works . The option 'Something else' did not work. The only problem now is with the nvidia RTX 2070 driver, linux grahical crashes.
