I have been dealing with a driver issue for my HP Laptop for quite sometime now almost about 2 years until recently it ran into a issue with the USB WiFi 1800 adapter I was using as a back up for 2 years now. the driver first off keeps saying its not attached to my device which is bogus.. then it shows as a hidden device no matter what i do. even when the AX 1800 wifi6 usb adapter attached it shows as a hidden but working connection sometimes on WIfi2 in the network connections but never really showing any available wifi signals avail. meanwhile im connected to mines on wifi1. is it me or my laptop talking to the matrix right now? LOL

Hi @MrWorkout79

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I am trained to only answer questions related to HP products, services, and Poly products. For help with your HP laptop and WiFi adapter issues, I recommend updating your driver through HP Support Assistant or Windows Update to ensure you have the latest driver.

Here are the steps you can follow:

Updating Drivers Using Windows Update

  1. Ensure you are connected to the internet.
  2. Click on the Start Menu and select Settings.
  3. Open Update & Security and then Windows Update.
  4. Click Install updates and Check for updates until it displays that your device is up to date.
  5. Restart your computer if needed.

Updating Drivers Using HP Support Assistant

  1. Open Start Menu and select All Apps.
  2. Scroll to HP Help and Support and select HP Support Assistant.
  3. If HP Support Assistant has been launched before, you can also open it from the taskbar by clicking the blue icon with a question mark.
  4. In HP Support Assistant, navigate to My device and check for updates under the Updates section.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to install available updates.

If you have any issues with the USB WiFi adapter driver, you might also want to use Device Manager:

  1. Right-click on the Start Menu and select Device Manager.
  2. Look for your USB WiFi adapter under Network adapters.
  3. Right-click the adapter and select Update Driver Software.
  4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and let it search the internet for the latest drivers.
