Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

the keyboard and touchpad are not working in windows 10 on this laptop and its driving me nuts, nothing seems to fix it. the ESC key does work however when starting up and in the BIOS and if I use a boot usb like hirens boot cd, it also works so the hardware itself is fine, it just will not work in windows 10. I've uninstalled the keyboard and mouse driver in the device manager - no joy. I've tried tilting the laptop - no joy. I've been trawling google and going through loads of settings but nothing works. I'm baffled. I can use the laptop with a usb keyboard and mouse plugged in. I've also done a full factory reset and that hasn't worked. Is there anything on this earth that will get this keyboard working in windows 10? thanks for any help.

update: (2 hours later). I've noticed that if I press the power button on the side the laptop goes to sleep and the side light blinks. if I press it again the laptop comes back to life and for about 2 seconds the touchpad works and I can move the pointer about on the screen but then the pointer freezes and stays that way. Does this shed any light on the problem?

@neuronetv Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the keyboard and mouse are not working.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://support.hp.com/au-en/help/hp-support-assistant

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

  1. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

  1. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  2. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  3. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, ensure Windows is up to date.

If the issue still persists, please uninstall the keyboard drivers and Mouse drivers and update the BIOS.
