Hi @rajesh2003pc,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Pavilion 14 Laptop PC is having issues related to either a hardware conflict or a potential software glitch. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Force Restart
- Method: Press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds until the laptop powers off. Wait a few seconds, then press the power button again to turn it back on.
- Purpose: This can clear any temporary software glitches or conflicts that may be causing the lock screen issue.
Check for Hardware Issues
- Charging Port: Ensure that the charging port is properly reconnected. Sometimes, improperly connected hardware can cause system issues.
- USB Ports: Check if there's any physical damage or debris in the USB ports that might be causing the laptop to freeze.
Update Drivers
- Method: Go to Device Manager (right-click on Start menu > Device Manager). Look for any devices with warning symbols and update their drivers. Specifically, update drivers for USB controllers and system devices.
- Purpose: Outdated or corrupt drivers can cause conflicts and freeze issues.
Boot in Safe Mode
- Method: Restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F8 key (or Shift + F8) during startup to enter Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, you can see if the issue persists.
- Purpose: Safe Mode loads only essential drivers and services, helping to determine if a third-party application or driver is causing the issue.
Check for System Updates
- Method: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates. Install any pending updates.
- Purpose: System updates often include fixes for bugs and compatibility issues.
Run Hardware Diagnostics
- Method: HP laptops often come with built-in diagnostics. Restart the laptop and press F2 (or F10) during startup to access HP PC Hardware Diagnostics. Run the diagnostics to check for hardware issues.
- Purpose: This helps identify if there’s a hardware fault causing the issue.

Check for Background Processes
- Method: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and see if any processes are consuming excessive resources. End any suspicious or high-resource processes.
- Purpose: Sometimes, background processes can cause the system to hang.
Perform a System Restore
- Method: If the problem started recently, you can use System Restore to roll back to a previous state. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > System Protection > System Restore.
- Purpose: This can undo recent changes that might have caused the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
